Opening comment

After the break caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we propose to reconstitute our meetings, both
national and international ones which involve the carabid beetles and the beetles of the countries
around the Baltic Sea studies. We look forward to excellent presentations and heated discussions.
We organize the symposium in a lovely region of Poland famous for its forests, lakes, and good
food. The venue is located on the most beautiful campus in Poland, where students and staff have
their 'own' lake, magnificent parks, and a beach, guaranteeing a healthy balance between study,
work, and relaxation. We are convinced that in addition to the scientific values, symposium
participants will enjoy being in this magical place that is the university town - Kortowo. You are
